AS- AudiostrobeAudiostrobe- a technology that controls light flickers with ultrasonic sound.

AVS- Audiovisual Stimulation

Automation- Controlling parameters along a timeline using control points. Almost all parameters can be controlled by automation. Clicking the "Trim" button on the TCP will show a list of parameters that can be automated on that track.

Automation Envelope- a visual representation of a parameter such as volume or panning that changes over time. A common use, among others, is to automate the raising or lowering of a track’s volume.

BWE- Brainwave Entrainment

BB- Binaural Beat.

Biofeedback- using technology to become aware of slight physiology changes that can be an indirect indication of mental state.

Binaural beat- an auditory illusion created when two differing tones are channeled separately to each ear.

Control Point- a point in a automation envelope where you can set values.

Carrier tone- the base tone of a binaural beat.

Compression- making the loud parts of a soundtrack softer, and the soft parts louder. It maks for a much richer sound.

Crossfade- fading one sound out while fading in another.

Carrier- a sound to be modulated for entrainment.

DAW- Digital Audio Workstation

Dry- sound which has not been processed

Envelope- A control line where you can control parameters over a timeline using control points,

Entrainment path- the flow of entrainment media along a timeline targeting specific frequencies.

EQ- equalization. Adjusting volume levels within specific frequency ranges.

Folder- a track that controls other tracks with FX. Controlling track is called the “parent” and tracks being controlled are “child tracks”

Fade- slowly increasing or decreasing volume.

Item- a block of sound used in Reaper. It can be music, ambiance, tones or light signals.

Isochronic Tone- a pure tone being turned on and off rapidly.

JS Plugin- a collection of free plugins from JesuSonic.

LED- Light Emitting Diode

LFO- Low Frequency Oscillator. Used to create isochronic tones and light flickers.

Loop- repeat over and over

MIDI- Musical Instrument Digital Interface. Musical sounds produced by electronics.

Mind Reaper- a configuration of the Reaper DAW customized for BWE use.

Modulate- to control amplitude, frequency or phase of sound or light.

Modulated Music- using music as a carrier for isochronic tones.

Neurofeedback- biofeedback using an EEG to condition changes in brainwave patterns.

Offset tone- tone of a different frequency used to create a binaural beat.

Phase- the degree where a waveform starts. 0, 180 and 360 degrees are the lowest part of a waveform. 90 and 270 degrees is the largest.

Photic stimulation- using light flickers to induce entrainment.

Protocol- the specifications of a session which determines the expected outcome.

RGB- Red, Green and Blue

Ramps- moving up or down in frequency along a timeline. Standard is 1 Hz +- per min.

Render- to export tracks into MP3, MP4, WAV or other formats.

Rests- pausing at key frequencies on the way to the target frequency.

SS- Spectrastrobe-

Spectrastobe- updated audiostrobe allowing color changes with complete control over LED's

TCP- Track Control Panel

Tactile stimulation- receiving a stimulus by touch or feel. Vibration is used as a delivery method of BWE.

Target frequency- the main objective frequency of the session.

Template- a file having parameters and media in place that can be modified to your specifications.

VST plugin- Virtual Studio Technology mini- program emulating effects and synthesizers of a professional recording studio.

Wave depth- the difference between the largest part of a waveform to the smallest.

Wet- sound that has been processed

White noise- a combination of all frequencies heard by the human ear. It is used to mask ambient room noise and provide a backdrop to entrainment pulses. Equalizing those frequencies creates other “colors” such as pink or brown.
